Who the Flames are
An ice hockey club run by volunteers, with coaches who played at the highest level.

Behind the bench
Onze trainers zijn externe, betaalde professionals. Ze zijn geen lid van de vereniging, maar wel aan de club verbonden: ze staan wekelijks op ons ijs en bepalen samen met technische zaken hoe er getraind wordt. De club huurt hun uren in — dat is een bewuste keuze, want het niveau op het ijs bepaalt hoe snel spelers vooruitgaan.
Daarnaast draaien er vrijwilligers mee als teamtrainer en begeleider. Die staan verderop.

Brock "Monty" Montgomery
Played in the top Canadian junior leagues and professionally in the United States and Germany. Learned from Kris Knoblauch (Edmonton Oilers) and Cail MacLean (Calgary Flames). Coaches on fundamentals, game sense and explosiveness.

Paul Vincent
Needs hardly any introduction in Dutch ice hockey. Possibly the best skills coach around.

Since 2016
From nothing to a full rink
2016
Founded at De Meent ice rink. Ron Berteling coached from the very start.
2017
More than 70 sign-ups in the first months, many of them girls. Five teams in the league and the first official game in Alkmaar.
2019
Almost 150 members in eight teams, with youth players in national squads.
2020
Seniors 1 won the title in front of some 300 spectators. Ron Berteling became the first Dutchman to win the IIHF Torriani Award. Paul Vincent became head coach.
2022
U9 won the national tournament in Tilburg.
2024
Three Flames players at the Winter Youth Olympic Games. The first women's team played in the league.
